                                    ARTIST STATEMENT

My practice is a daily exploration of paint, color and emotion. Brushstrokes of contrasting hues move across a canvas, reflecting a mind full of racing thoughts, or daydreams.  Raw brush and line work, rhythmic or repetitive, fascinate and connect me.  Art heals, and I am proof.

For me, the act of painting is meditative and deepens my gratitude, while giving clarity.  Improvising, making space for discoveries, and exploring previous bodies of my work are critical to my practice.  Painting is physical and intuitive for me, an act of passion, rigor and spirit.

Art has saved me many times over: it continues to give expression, peace and healing in my life.  I hope to keep creating and pushing myself to grow as an artist.
